Statement by the Government of Boralani on Recent Events Affecting Venezuela

Government of Boralani – Official Statement

The Government of Boralani acknowledges the capture of Nicolás Maduro, an event of major consequence for Venezuela and for regional stability beyond South America.

Boralani has followed developments in Venezuela for many years with concern, particularly the steady erosion of democratic institutions, the humanitarian toll borne by ordinary citizens, and the growing evidence that criminal networks came to operate with protection at the highest levels of the state.

Venezuela’s democratic opposition consistently warned that the country had ceased to function as a sovereign civic order and had instead become a permissive environment for transnational crime and foreign influence. Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado summarized this reality in stark terms, stating that Venezuela had “already been invaded” by foreign agents, armed groups, and criminal organizations operating with the tolerance of the regime.

She further described the presence of Russian and Iranian operatives, terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah and Hamas, Colombian guerrilla movements, and drug cartels engaged not only in narcotics trafficking but in human trafficking and organized exploitation. In her assessment, these forces transformed Venezuela into a criminal hub sustained by a heavily financed system of repression.

While Boralani does not involve itself in the internal politics of distant nations, we recognize that these assessments align with long-standing international allegations concerning the convergence of state power, organized crime, and armed non-state actors in Venezuela. Such conditions undermine regional security, distort sovereignty, and inflict lasting harm on civilian populations.

The people of Boralani extend their sympathy to Venezuelans who have endured years of economic collapse, political repression, violence, and displacement. Any durable resolution must place their dignity, safety, and right to self-determination at its center.

Boralani emphasizes that the period ahead will be decisive. The dismantling of criminal structures, the restoration of lawful civilian governance, and the pursuit of justice without vindictiveness are essential if Venezuela is to move toward stability rather than renewed instability.

As a small island nation, Boralani remains attentive to the ways in which state failure, transnational crime, and foreign proxy activity can ripple far beyond national borders. We therefore encourage outcomes that strengthen lawful institutions, respect human rights, and reduce the space in which criminal systems can take root.

The Government of Boralani will continue to observe developments with care and with respect for the Venezuelan people, whose future must ultimately be shaped by their own will.
